2K Sports have announced the best marketing campaign money can buy. They’re offering up $1,000,000 to the first person to pitch a perfect game in MLB 2K10‘s 360 or PS3 versions between March 2 (launch day) and May 1. The official rules are as follows: You have to play the entire game in MLB Today mode and you have to videotape the entire game and send it in on a DVD. Entrants must be 18 or older and not live in Arizona, Connecticut, Maryland, North Dakota or Vermont.
I’ve pitched one perfect game in all my years of playing baseball games. It was on the Gamecube version of MVP Baseball 2005, and it was my ultimate “In The Zone” game. I still don’t know how I did it, but I managed to pitch a perfect game with Kerry Wood, 20 strikeouts, had one player hit five home runs and another hit for the cycle all in the same game. 2K Sports is claiming to have a totally revamped pitching system in MLB 2K10, and this is the perfect way to get people to check it out. Marketing genius.
