Bandai Entertainment’s English version of the K-On! anime series is due out this April on Blu-ray and DVD, but they’re making sure everyone knows about it well beforehand. They’ve now uploaded a sample of their dub at their YouTube page.

The show follows Yui Hirasawa, Mio Akiyama, Ritsu Tainaka, and Tsumugi Kotobuki as they join together to form a high school band. It’s a slice-of-life show with silly comedic parts thrown in at times. Think of it as Azumanga Daioh with more musical instruments and less Chiyo’s dad.

Yui is played by veteran Stephanie Sheh (Eden of the East, Lucky Star, Naruto). Mio is voiced by Cristina Vee (Nanoha from Magical Lyrical Nanoha). Ritsu and Tsumugi are played by newcomers Cassandra Lee and Shelby Lindley.

Yui’s voice seems to fit her character pretty well, and I can see Mio’s voice fitting, too. But Ritsu sounds pretty off from what I’d envision for her English voice; she sounds almost too childish. Let us know what you think of the voices in the comments.
