In an interview with Joystiq Dance Central Project Lead Kasson Crooker revealed that the DLC for Dance Central will cost more than for Rock Band. He also explained why.

“Because [Dance Central DLC] comes with a brand new unique routine with the three difficulties, we have to: engage the choreographer, find the song, license the song, come up with a routine, get them into a [motion capture] suit, shoot all the choreography, integrate the animation, build the filter system, the flash cards, the [voiceover] for ‘Break it Down’ — it’s a pretty elaborate process that is not only a lot more expensive, but a lot more time consuming.”

I can understand this to a point. Maybe I’m confused but I thought motion capture was done to make animation cheaper and faster. And since your using “Dance” music shouldn’t there be a choreographed dance already?

Of course they leave out the all important question. How Much More? Rock Band songs already cost $2 each, and it’s a price point that most people are comfortable with. Go any higher than $3 and I think sales will take a hit.
