FOX recently announced the launch of Family Guy Online, a browser based, online RPG which is also free-to-play and features 3D environments set in the town of Quahog.

Family Guy Online allows players to create their own customized characters from scratch, which they will use to roam around in Quahog and interact with other players as well as the in-game characters. The recently released trailer for the game offered a brief glimpse at the game, its art style and the various characters who will be present. The trailer indicated that players will be able to explore Quahog on their own and take up quests and challenges from various instantly recognizable characters from the TV show, including members of the Griffin family, as well as other fan favorites such as Herbert the pedophile, Greased-Up-Deaf guy, and Mayor West.  You can also take a leisurely stroll through some of the show’s most famous locations, including the Griffin family house, Spooner Street, the Drunken Clam bar and many more.

The game’s official website states that the game is currently in a closed beta phase. Players can sign up for the game right now to take part in the closed beta, and can even create their characters right now and save them for future play when the game comes out. Check out the trailer below.

It’s definitely an intriguing premise, giving Family Guy the MMO treatment, and making it free-to-play. The game’s very idea has me interested. What do you think about it? Sound off in the comments below.
