According to Serebii.net, Famitsu has given out yet another perfect score. This time, the recipient was the next iteration of Pokémon games, Pokémon Black and Pokémon White. While a perfect 40 out of 40 from Famitsu don’t mean as much as they used to, it’s still high praise to be scored so well. Presumably, this means that the judges took well to the new 3D exploration mode, chat functionality and triple battles that the new game added.

For those unfamiliar with Famitsu’s scoring system, four reviewers each give a score on a ten-point scale, and the scores are added together for the final review score. According to Serebii, these are the first Pokémon games to receive 40s. Diamond and Pearl received 35 out of 40, Platinum received a 36 while the HeartGold and SoulSilver remakes got 37. Black and White are set for release on Japanese Nintendo DS systems next week, and will head for North America sometime next year.
