Microsoft is putting all their eggs in one basket. Starting on July 11th all the content of Games for Windows Marketplace will merge with Xbox.com. All the content will then be under the Xbox brand. All you login information will remain the same after the transition.

Games for Windows Marketplace is coming to Xbox.com!

Games for Windows Marketplace will fully transition over to Xbox.com. Now you can get all of your gaming needs in one place. It’s convenient, it’s concentrated, and it’s a whole lot of great games.

This merger is just another step on Microsoft’s stated goal of building all their gaming interests around the Xbox brand name.

I can see a bit of backlash over this. Let’s face it. Console gamers and PC gamers have a rivalry between them and lately the PC crowd has been bitching about developers making games with consoles in mind then making a crappy port to the PC (where as it was the opposite in years past.) The PC crowd is not gonna be happy with merging with the console side of gaming.
