Hello and welcome to another week of gaming news recaps! This week we have new Pokémon mega-evolutions announced, more Super Smash Bros. info for the Wii U, and the PlayStation store has a cool offer. Read on to find out more.
Steelix and Glaile will be the two new mega-evolutions to appear in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the Pokémon Company International announced. Steelix, which is the evolution of rock and ground-type pokémon Onyx, will have additional defenses and the “iron tail” move when it becomes Mega Steelix. Ice-type Glaile, which is the evolved form of Snowrunt will get single knockout attack “sheer cold,” raised stats, and the refrigerate ability, which turns normal-type moves into ice-type.
Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are 3DS exclusives and will be launched on November 21st.
New Trailer for Mario Kart 8 DLC
A new Japanese trailer (shown below) has been released for Mario Kart 8‘s upcoming DLC which shows tanooki suit Mario, cat suit Peach, and the Yoshi Circuit track. The pack is expected to launch in November and includes the aforementioned characters plus Link. Eight new tracks will be added, as well as the Yoshi circuit track which was first introduced in Mario Kart: Double Dash. Four new vehicles will also be added including Link’s Master Cycle, which will be priced at $7.99.
The DLC was announced in August and there is a second pack which is set to be launched in May 2015. The second DLC pack will add Animal Crossing‘s Villager, Isabelle from Animal Crossing: New Leaf, eight tracks and four vehicles.
Nintendo Direct Shows New Super Smash Bros. Information
Nintendo have broadcast a new Super Smash Bros. for Wii U video stream which offered a variety of information about the upcoming game. In the stream Nintendo revealed over 50 new details surrounding the game including information on new modes and maps. It was also announced that Super Smash Bros. will support 8 players simultaneously on certain stages and only in local multi-player. There will also be a Miiverse stage which will allow Miiverse posts on specific fighters, integration into the battle to cheer for those fighters. It was also revealed that stamina battles would be returning, which means you have to keep a close eye on your HP, otherwise you’ll be out for the count. According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, The PlayStation Store will be offering season passes to TV shows, with the feature being launched on the PlayStation 3 and via web and mobile. The new feature will be available for the PlayStation 4, Sony smart TV’s and Blu-ray players at a later date. The season pass will make it easier to purchase entire seasons of your favorite shows even including current seasons with episodes that haven’t even released yet. By visiting the PlayStation store and simply clicking on the “Buy Season” button, you can purchase all existing and future episodes in the season, with them then being added to the “My Videos” of your PlayStation Store or Video Unlimited account.
