Today marks the first day of the “Year of the Dragon” according to the Chinese zodiac system, so it’s only natural that we’re finding out about new opportunities to slay dragons. ArenaNet president Mike O’Brien announced that the first closed beta for Guild Wars 2 has just been completed, and now they are looking to progressively include more users in the upcoming months. Specifically, select members of the press will be given an opportunity to test in February. The beta will significantly ramp up in size in March and April as well, so everybody will be given a chance to participate.

No official dates were laid out, although we can definitely expect this title to be released in 2012. In the mean time, be sure to check out the official Guild Wars site for updates. We’ll also keep you posted on how to secure a beta invite once more details are released.

  • I’m actually pretty excited for this one. I liked what I got through of the first game, and I want to try and convince more of my friends to play this time around. Here’s hoping they announce a date for public beta soon because I’d love to get in on it.
