Aksys Games announced recently that Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom is now available for purchase. This historical adventure set in Japan’s Edo Period is one of the first otome games to be released in North America. (Otome stories put the player in the role of a female main character and let you choose one of several male love interests to pursue.) Available for the PSP, Demon of the Fleeting Blossom is the most recent entry in Idea Factory’s Hakuoki series,which is popular in Japan and has even been adapted into an anime.
Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom is a visual novel that follows Chizuru, a young woman looking for her father in Kyoto. The Shinsengumi seek her father as well, so they protect her when she encounters danger during her search. Though surrounded by supernatural happenings, political intrigue, and death, the heroine has a chance for romance. As the player, you’ll make many decisions for Chizuru, and they will affect both her fate and that of members of the Shinsengumi.
This title is available in both standard and limited editions. The limited edition contains a 72-page art book and a CD with the game’s soundtrack. Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom is rated ‘M’ for Mature audiences by the ESRB.
