If you have finally succeeded in seeing yourself through to the conclusion of Mass Effect 3 then you are more than likely on the side that is somewhat bummed out by the anti-climatic ending of the game. The ending left a lot of people puzzled by the time the credits rolled around, including myself, where I found my self in limbo on whether I actually liked the ending or hated it. Despite the numerous problems, plot holes, and lack of choice carrying any weight heading into the final sequence, there is still a lot of good to be salvaged from the ending we got.

I’m not defending the ending but see for yourself it might just change your mind. Because I went into that end sequence fully aware of the hatred and disappointment associated with the ending but like many things I thought it was an overreaction but in reality it was pretty spot on. So for a few moments put down your torches and pitchforks and take a look at this well made video that runs through the indoctrination theory. This video alone has changed my mind somewhat on the ending, I would even go as far to say I kind of like it. But judge for yourself.

So what do you think? has this shed some light on the ending of Mass Effect 3 leave your opinion in the comments section below.

  • While playing ME3 I could tell there were story points that would make more sense if I had read the books. Bringing those in, makes the indoctrination theory more plausible. At the same time, I can’t help but think that people are just trying to justify the bad writing decisions of Bioware.

If Indoctrination is true we’ll find out in a few weeks when DLC pack #1 comes out. Only $10 and you can actually finish the fight against the Reapers.

  • One thing that came to mind about the Indoctrination theory is that everything is going on inside his head which would mean you never actually beat the reapers because you were never on the Citadel, thus the reason why Shepard wakes on Earth.

I totally agree that future DLC will resolve the ending because I can’t see any other reason to leave the ending so vague. When the rest of the game is written so well. Plus the endings to the first two games were awesome, this one is just weird.

Out of everything there were a few things that were disappointing about the final battle. But the one that got me was that The Rachni and Geth never showed up in the final battle which sucked because I made an effort to save both. To not have that reflected at all really sucked. I really wanted to see a swarm of Rachni taking down a Reaper on Earth.
