North American anime distributors weren’t the only busy ones last week. British anime fans can rejoice at two more series coming their way courtesy of Manga UK. Casshern Sins and High School of the Dead were both announced for release around the middle of 2011 in the United Kingdom.

Manga UK did not make a formal press release announcement for the license of Casshern Sins yet, instead electing to first give pictorial clues via their Twitter account. The title should be released sometime in May or June 2011 on DVD. They have yet to make mention of any Blu-Ray releases yet. The series was released in North America by FUNimation earlier this year.

Casshern Sins is a remake of a 1970’s anime series where robots have taken over the world and are sent to kill off the last hope of mankind, leaving them on the brink of extinction. Casshern, the protagonist, succeeds in his mission and wakes up long in the future where the world is in ruins. Without his memory, he searches for clues on how to save mankind and understand why the world at large wants him gone.

High School of the Dead, which just finished its run in Japan this summer, is due for release on Blu-Ray and DVD in June or July 2011. Manga UK also elected to go the Twitter route on this announcement as well. Sentai Filmworks holds the North America rights to the series, but have not yet announced release dates.

High School of the Dead follows a group of students and a few teachers as they try to escape a virus-induced zombie outbreak in Japan. One seemingly peaceful day, a zombie infects a person at the entrance to the school, creating a domino effect that leaves most of the students and faculty either dead or undead. It is perhaps best known for its mix of bloody violence and over-the-top sexualization of the female characters.
