Due to the outrage from their customers, Netflix has decided to not go through with plans to split the DVD service from the Streaming service. So everything will be going back to the way it was. The announcement was made via the Netflix blog.
It is clear that for many of our members two websites would make things more difficult, so we are going to keep Netflix as one place to go for streaming and DVDs.
This means no change: one website, one account, one password… in other words, no Qwikster.
Unfortunately the game rental service they announced at the same time as the split was not mentioned in this release. We can only assume for now that they still plan on going through with that.
I’m not a shareholder of Netflix, but if I was I would be looking to replace Reed Hastings as CEO. The multitude of changes and price hikes over the last year have only made the customer base mad, and has even driven over a million subscribers to cancel. You’re not going to survive as a company if you keep making decisions without doing some research to see how your customers will react.
