From the folks over at NetherRealm and the mind of Ed Boon comes Injustice: Gods Among Us, heading to the PS3, XBox 360 and Wii U in 2013.

Judging by the trailer the first thing that comes to mind is the 2008 Mortal Kombat vs. DC just without the Mortal Kombat crew in attendance. Despite that game’s T rating, it turned out to be a great fighter that laid the majority of the groundwork for the 2011 Mortal Kombat 9. If they improve upon that formula, NetherRealm could really be on to something. Imagine duking it out with Doomsday in Metropolis or battling out with Superman in the Batcave with Batman’s kryptonite ring.

Here is some of the good stuff from Warner Brother’s official press release:

“With Injustice: Gods Among Us , we are creating an all-new franchise with incredible battles set in the DC Comics Universe,” said Martin Tremblay, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “NetherRealm Studios is the extremely talented team behind the latest Mortal Kombat hit and it is developing a game unlike any other in the fighting genre.”

“We can’t wait to reveal Injustice: Gods Among Us because it will give our fans and gamers an epic experience as they battle like gods as their favorite DC Comics villains and heroes,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios. “Our team is excited to make a fighting game that is filled with fast-paced action, incredible story-telling and iconic DC Comics characters.”

As far as the cast of fighters go, you have your usual suspects sporting their updated New 52 look from DC Comic’s successful relaunch last year. Check out the trailer above and remember to check back next week for announcements coming from E3.
