Fans of the Evangelion manga series have been waiting quite some time for volume 13 to arrive, especially if you consider that volume one came out in Japan in 1995. Japanese fans first got their hands on volume 12 in April 2010, and American fans saw the English release in March 2011. However, today, VIZ announced that both audiences will receive volume 13 on the same day: November 2, 2012. As an added bonus, the volume will be available both in print and digitally via and the VIZ iOS app that day.

The manga series by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, who designed the characters for the critically-acclaimed anime, follows Shinji Ikari, a teenage boy who is conscripted by his father to fight against “Angels” using biomechanical weapons called Evangelion, or Eva for short. The fate of the world hangs in the balance as he and his comrades fight for their lives. Volume 13 brings the story closer to its epic conclusion as the climactic battle has begun.

Excited for this latest volume or has the long wait hurt your interest in the series? Also, what do you think of this same day release idea? Is this the future of manga publishing or just a one time shot?
