Nintendo is holding a launch event for Super Mario 3D Land at Military Island in Times Square. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12th. The area will be set up with a life size recreation of Mario’s world, including warp pipes, trampoline coin jumps, and a flag pole at the end. You can also meet Mario himself, while you get to play demo units of Super Mario 3D Land.

As a special treat, if you go to Toys“R”Us Times Square, which just happens to be next to the event area, between 12 and 2pm you will be able to purchase a copy of Super Mario 3D Land a day before the rest of us.

  • I am glad that Nintendo keeps the Mario line alive. I am also glad that they sometimes go back and make it close to the old 2d side scroller. I still to this day like to play the original super mario brothers from the nes. But I think Super Mario World on Snes is my all time favorite. The only thing I don’t like is that all these good mario games are coming out on 3ds. I just can’t play on that little screen anymore. lol

  • Nintendo has pretty much saturated the market with the Wii. Everyone who wanted one has one, so they are focusing on the 3DS. And nothing sells better than Mario. I’m surprised they went this long without a new Mario game.

As for screen sizes, the small screen doesn’t bother me. Any bigger and it wouldn’t be portable anymore.

Super Mario World is my fav so far as well. I never get tired of it.
