Demo’s are not common enough these days, and even when you can get them it could be hard to chose which one to try. Nintendo wants to fix that.

In a Q&A session with investors president Satoru Iwata said, “When Nintendo would like to ask users to try a specific new game, we should deliver it to their Nintendo 3DS, and possibly Wii U, with their prior consent and recommend that they just try it and, if they like it, they can pay for it. In this way, we need to introduce users to unknown products.”

In other words, if you opt-in to the program, Nintendo would like to send demo’s to your 3DS and WiiU while the systems are in standby mode. If you like the game it would then allow you to pay for the full game.

Could be a good thing. It might expose you to games you never thought you would like. Of course if they send me Solitaire Redux Version 47 I would opt back out.
