Sony has convinced a judge that a restraining order is necessary to prevent further damage to Sony’s business while the lawsuit against the defendants continues. For those just joining us you can check out our previous post for the whole lawsuit story.

The order forbids Mr. Hotz and the failOverflow team from distributing or linking to the jailbreak, helping or encouraging others to jailbreak, hacking into the PS3 or PSN, or distributing any information they’ve found while hacking. They have also been ordered to give Sony any computers and storage media usedwil creating the hack.

Not that this will stop the hack from spreading. Just like with deCSS, and every other jailbreak method, the code is already gone viral around the internet. Any one who has access to google can find it.

A copy of the actual order is here.
