End of an Era: Geocities Goes Under Destruction

Geocities was a haven for anyone wanting to build their own website in the 1990’s and early 2000’s; it offered anyone with a computer the chance to code some html and make a site about whatever they want. It’s a sad day in internet history: No more retina-crippling Star Trek fansites or family picture sites that spammed marquee and blink tags.As of today, Yahoo is shutting it down.

Surprise! ISPs Raise Prices and Add Caps while Their Costs Go Down

Over at Ars Technica, Nate Anderson put together a nice summary of some major broadband ISPs’ income and expense margins. The result? We here in the United States continues to get hosed when it comes to internet compared to most other first world nations. It comes down to roughly a 10% increase in income with a 10% decrease in cost for these major ISPs as compared to the first quarter of 2008.
