GeekendHi there, Geekenders! This week, Jimmy finally gets a PS4, Michael binges on anime, and Dan gets sucked into an MMO.

Read on to find out what we’ve been up to, and make sure to leave a comment with what you’ve been playing, watching, and reading, too!

This week I focused on finishing up Awakened Fate Ultimatum. Overall, I must say I’m a bit disappointed. While I enjoyed its predecessor, several of the changes made to the gameplay and the story of this one seem like missteps on NIS’s part. I’ll get into more detail in my full review, which should be out soon. Having finished that, however, I finally felt able to purchase a PS4, and while I haven’t started it yet, I should be either streaming and/or making a Let’s Play of Bloodborne very soon. So please look forward to that, because I know I am.

I’ve been on another anime kick lately especially with Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE and part one of Durarara X2 both ending. As for new series, Baby Steps and Nisekoi Season 2 have both started off fairly well. I also started to rewatch Majin Tantei Nogami Neuro, which is about a demon detective who solves and eats mysteries. I started Earth Maiden Arjuna, an anime I’ve been meaning to get into for awhile, and I tried watching a random anime called Love, Election and Chocolate which is based off of a visual novel. In the source material, the main character tries to run for student council president so he can save his school club where all they do is eat snacks. The name intrigued me, but after 3 episodes I said, “No.”

This week, pretty much the only thing I played was Final Fantasy. When I was home (and not swamped with school/job related work), I played Final Fantasy XIV. I’m severely behind on story, but I’m hoping to get through a good chunk of it before Heavensward comes out. My Bard is level 50, but I’m only through about level 30 on the story, but now that Jenn is playing again, we can run through a lot of story together. When she’s not been on, I’ve been re-outfitting my botanist and fisher classes to do some end-game gathering so I can make some cash. I think I enjoy fishing in the game more than real life… probably due to the air conditioning. When I’ve not been home, I’ve been playing through the two events available on Record Keeper. I sadly didn’t get all the way through the FFVII quest, so I did not snag Sephiroth, but I’m almost done with the one to get both versions of Cecil. Hopefully there will be other chances to get these guys, because I’m a collectionist, and missing out will eat at me.
