As many Nintendo fans know, this year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Legend of Zelda. This series has sold millions of copies worldwide, and is a hallmark of Nintendo’s illustrious gaming history.

The many iterations of Link

Nintendo is doing a couple of things to celebrate this anniversary, with one of them being a re-release of the Legend of Zelda: Four Swords. This multiplayer game was released in conjunction with A Link to the Past on the Gameboy Advance in 2002. While it was well received, many players were not able to enjoy it as it was difficult to find 4 people with a copy of the game, along with the link cables.

Now, Nintendo is re-releasig the game as DSiWare, meaning you can download it for the 3DS, DSi, and DSi XL. This version has wireless multiplayer, and a revamped campaign that allows you to play solo, while being able to control multiple Links.

Best of all, this version is FREE! It is available on the DSi Shop and eShop today (I just downloaded my copy). It will remain free until Feb. 20, 2012, where it will then become a paid download.
