Game streaming service Gaikai has signed a deal with Walmart to provide instant streaming demos of popular computer games in the Walmart game center website. Essentially, with this technology in place, you can visit Walmarts website and then play a demo of various games without having to worry about system specs. All the processing is done at Gaikai’s end. While some games are already streamable, this partnership will expand the collection considerably.
While I like the idea, I really can’t stand Wal-Mart.
I’m surprised On-Live hasn’t been trying to make such deals. Some folks are unsure about the whole game streaming thing. This would be a good opportunity to grab some customers if they did revenue sharing like Gaikai does with its partners like Walmart.
